Plenty to Cheer About in Packerland Print E-mail

Going into this preseason game there was a lot of apprehension about the team. We're coming off an exciting season in which the Packers made it to the NFC Championship game. Then a big factor in that ride through the playoffs got traded to the New York Jets. Suddenly, there were a lot of questions and a great deal of apprehension about whether we could have a chance to get back to the NFC title game and go on to the Super Bowl.

I think we can all see that there's hope.

Aaron didn't have an explosive showing on Monday night, but he was solid. He completed... passes consistently and his only interception wasn't his fault.

Granted, he's got a lot to work on, but that's true at every position. The question this game has answered for us is that this team could turn into the kind of team that can get it done this season.

Now the first thing we need to get done this season (and get it done fast) is get healthy. Both corners were out. Ryan Grant was out. Our defensive line is banged up and they're barely gotten started banging on each other. We need to get healthy.

I think we will get healthy. The injuries we have thus far are more the nagging kind of injuries that make it difficult for a player to got at 100%. They really aren't the kind of injuries that make you wonder if they'll play at all.

I think at this stage McCarthy and the trainers are just trying to give these guys a chance to get back to full-strength before throwing them in. In many cases I would agree with Ted Thompson's comments in his recent press conference. We pretty much know what these guys can do for us. Granted there is the question of whether Woodson, Harris, and KGB have lost a little bit due to age, but we really know what many of these players can do for us.

And we'll see even more in the coming weeks. I expect to start seeing more of our team hit the field in the next couple games and we'll really start to see what this teams is capable of.
