Aaron Rodgers has really started to settle in as the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback and the leader of this football team. He had a solid showing against the Detroit Lions on Sunday completing 24 of his 38 passes. Three of those passes were for touchdowns.
And Rodgers could have had more. Several receivers (surprisingly, James Jones was among them) dropped a few passes. However, the receiving core also had to catch passes off... their back shoulder several times. Lesser receivers would have dropped some of those passes. Aaron was short on most of his passes over 25 yards, which still leads us to wonder about the deep game. Most notable among them was a Jennings touchdown that never made it to the endzone because Greg had to come back for the ball. Still, neither the Vikings, nor the Lions could figure out how to stop the Packer's short passing game. So, the fact that Aaron is still struggling deep may be a moot point. Ryan Grant really had a difficult time on Sunday gaining only 20 yards on 15 attempts. The good news is that Brandon Jackson did a fine job not only picking up the slack, but keeping the Lions defense honest so the Packer's passing game would open up a little bit. In fact, it was Jackson's 19 yard rumble to the endzone that sealed a victory when the outcome was still very much uncertain. In the end, Grant will probably be just fine. He'll find his rhythm soon. Let's just hope it's against the Cowboys this coming week. Aaron still needs to work on his accuracy a bit, Grant needs to find his rhythm, and the Packers as a team need to cut down on penalties, but after two games, the Green Bay Packers are looking very good. |
