It appears the whole Brett Favre issue is behind the Green Bay Packers. It sounds like Brett is busy trying to work out a deal with that other bay (Tampa) to play ball for them.

Many, many fans are disappointed about the fact that Brett Favre will not be donning the Green and Gold this year, but almost all of them are glad we're moving on.

So, in the name of moving on lets talk about... our new starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

Before training camp began I had rather high hopes for Aaron. Once he got into the flow of the Dallas game last year he started to look pretty good. He found receivers and didn't look like he had the "happy feet" we'd seen him exhibit in past pre-season games.

With a lot more reps at starting QB I really expected him to start clicking with the starting receivers and making some pretty good plays. According to Aaron, he and the receivers are starting to get that silent communication going. They're starting to really understand each other and their really starting to get on the "same page."

Then came family night and the scrimmage. Aaron was really pumped to be able to play with the starting team instead of getting beaten around by the starting team for a change. Still he really laid an egg.

Was Aaron distracted by the whole Brett Favre appearance? Maybe. But the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers always feels a great deal of pressure. Not only does he have coaches watching him, ready to pull him if he screws up enough, but, there are 70,000 fans present who know the game inside and out because it's the only real entertainment there is on a Friday night in rural Wisconsin.

I think it's wise to withhold judgment on Aaron. Anybody can have a bad game. Goodness knows I've had many back in my day. But if Aaron thought the Favre debacle was pressure, he hasn't seen anything yet. Come Monday there will be thousands of Green Bay Packer fans wondering which Aaron Rodgers will show up at this game; the one that showed promise in the Dallas game or the one that had the ugly display during Family Night.

It will come down to the running game
written by Skadoosh, August 10, 2008
Well, for my part, I think this whole season will come down to the running game. McCarthy has talked run since he got here and this time he will need it. Without Brett Favre to save us when the running game sucks, we will have to rely on running the ball to make Rodgers look good.
