Early this morning a deal was struck that traded Brett Favre to the New York Jets. The Green Bay Packers will now move on, as planned, with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. I wish I could say the saga is finally over, but it's not. I expect Brett's name won't be spoken around here as often anymore, but the fact remains...
that this drama will play out throughout the preseason and the entire regular season. After the poor showing Rodgers had in the family night scrimmage, fans will be watching the preseason with an even more critical eye. If Aaron plays well, judgment will be reserved for one more game. Even if Rodgers does well in the preseason, he'll be critically examined all season long. That's only natural when you follow a superstar. Everyone expects you to play at a high level. They've gotten used to winning, they like winning, and they don't want to stop winning. Right now there are a lot of emotions running around. Some Packer fans are glad to have Brett gone. Most are furious that he isn't playing for us this year. All are glad to be moving on but extremely apprehensive of how this season is going to play itself out. Is there a way for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packer brass to win back the heart of the fans? For Aaron the answer to that is simple. Stay healthy, and keep winning. For the Packers management... win the Super Bowl.
